A 20-something guy formally educated as engineer who – curiously – has more love for physics, humanities, and graphics design. Right now lives in South Jakarta, Indonesia.

I often address myself as “HQM”, which is actually colloquialized version of my real name. (it is read “Hakim” in Indonesian, so yeah…)

What am I all about?

Scientifically-inclined, agnostic; politically secular, liberal, and utilitarian. Support Open Source and Free Culture Movement. I also believe in the possible merit of internationalism and multicultural society.

Interests and Hobbies:

Football (Gooner since 1998), graphics design (via Adobe Photoshop), world music… I used to intensely follow Japanese stuff like anime/manga/dorama, but not very much nowadays.

Other Tidbits:

  • I’m technically ethnic Javanese, however, my grasp of Javanese language is atrocious. The long story can be read here [Bahasa Indonesia].
     
  • Have strange infatuation about Ireland and its culture. Don’t ask me how. Been listening Celtic music for maybe few years now…
     
  • I like my coffee… no, this isn’t about that. Sweet and warm. Honest!

About This Blog: FAQ

 
What is this blog?

Personal notes about things I’m interested in, namely science, culture, and philosophy. However, due to the topic’s academic nature, I’m obliged to provide citations when possible. This also serves as further reference for the readers.

Why this blog?

Because there are still few blogs about such things in Bahasa Indonesia (my native language). I believe in libre knowledge, so I think, what about helping it out.

Do you have academic credentials in those fields?

No, I don’t. I’m not even academia. I’d only call myself as “diligent layman slogging through literature and papers.” :P

When is this blog updated?

It used to be three times a week (Tuesday, Friday, Sunday) — but nowadays I adjust when I have time.

Can I use/copy/republish articles in this blog?

Yes, as long as the source is mentioned. It is licensed under Creative Commons 3.0 (CC-BY).

Is this blog’s content reliable?

Hopefully — but I suggest you never use it for academic purpose (e.g. school/college task). This blog is NOT substitute for academic reading.

Is there house rule?

Yes, there is. A few simple do’s and dont’s, and you’re set.

    Euh, saya udah ‘pensiun’ dari dunia jejepangan. Udah lama ga ngikutin anime/dorama dsb, jadi yah begitulah… ^^a

    aku baru kali ini berkunjung ke website anda, pertama kali yang aku search panduan jepang di google dan nyasar ke tempat anda, saya sangat berterimakasih pada anda tentang bahasa jepang. tapi saya sangat sedih jika anda telah berhenti dari mempelajari bahasa itu :-(

    Well… gimana ya? ^^; Semakin bertambah umur, saya makin jarang mengikuti perkembangan J-stuff lagi sih. Sudah nggak pernah nonton dorama, anime, dsb.-nya. Kemampuan Bahasa Jepang paling sisa-sisa yang dipelajari waktu kuliah aja.

    Yup, saya dulu belajarnya sambil baca buku + dengar lagu, nonton film. Waktu itu sambil jalanin kuliah, banyak teman yang suka download. Boleh dibilang enjoy aja. :P

    Soal berapa lama belajar, sebenarnya ga ada patokan baku. Kembali ke kitanya aja — semakin sering dilatih pasti makin cepat. Mulai dari yang gampang seperti menghafal huruf kana, terus berlanjut ke kosakata dan struktur kalimat. Seiring terbiasa dalam 1-2 tahun mestinya udah sanggup nerjemahin lagu. ;)
